Versatile, floral, refreshing acid. Long, rich finish. Minerality and lighter bodied. Kumquat and persimmon notes with a hint of floral lily.
This Vermentino came from our Block 44 that sits along the eastern edge of our property. 2016 was a good year for fruit, while we were in a drought, those stressors meant the vine had to struggle a bit which means that it put some extra effort into fruit production and the berries, and the resulting wine, show that beautifully.
"Vermentino is known to be deliciously complex and this vintage holds true to that varietal style. The minerality on this wine is strong, and its citrus notes are that of a kumquat with just a touch of lime peel. Taking a deep breath in of this fragrant wine you will find the pleasant aromas of lily and persimmon. This wine is light in body and a refreshing, with a finish that is as rich as it begins.” – WINEMAKER DON CRANK III
These two and a half tons of grapes came into wine production late in August 2016. We fermented them in stainless steel and kept them on their lees for a little longer to give this wine some additional richness. Only 154 cases of this vintage were produced. Bottled on December 8th, 2016.
